doctor appointment

The twins had their 2 month check up today and Carter had his flu shot. Here's the scoop:

Carter: the doting big brother had his flu shot and by far was the most scared of the bunch. He screamed and clung to me. That is so heart wrenching for me (Luke had his own appointment today which we'd scheduled later in the day, but the kids' appointments took 2 HOURS so of course Luke's name was called when the shots were ready...ugh).

Cohen: has lots to report. He weighs 8 lbs 4 oz, 21.5 inches long, and 39cm head circumference. We saw a Ped this time and she said he looks just fine weight wise. He's small, but he isn't a packaged deal with Kenna - he's his own person, so if he's 2 lbs smaller than her that's ok. As long as he isn't losing weight. With regard to the spitting - she suggested trying a different formula (either Nutramagin or Alimentum) which is just a partially digested formula so there's less for his belly to "slosh around." We're going to try that. She also said we should add rice cereal to his formula to help thicken the bottle, thus reducing sloshing even more. We're going to also add Zantac to his routine 2x/day for one month and reevaluate.

McKenna: is enormous =) Healthy but huge! She weighs 10 lbs 7 oz, 22 inches long, and 40cm head circumference. Really nothing to report on Kenna - she's healthy, big, and content all by herself. She will continue on her regular formula. We may add rice cereal to her bottles just to help with her spitting, but clearly she isn't going to wither away anytime soon.

Both babies had 3 shots and an oral (Rotavirus).

Shots are the worst. Don't tell me that they didn't give Carter the nose spray for the flu shot?! Clayton wasn't so sure of it but Audrey didn't have any issues.

They did offer it. The doctor said it requires 2 sprays (one in each nostril) and we just knew after one spray Carter wouldn't do the other one. So we opted for the one poke and to be done with it.

Ahhh... ok. Yeah, Audrey did just fine but Clayton literally had to be held (and chased before) even after he watched it done to Audrey. Mom had to have her shot too. I asked for the nose spray and they told me I was too old! LOL Oh well..
